About Us

Newport Elementary School serves students in PreK through fifth grades and is part of South Washington County Schools. Teachers and staff members at Newport Elementary School are committed to helping every child reach their full potential. Teachers personalize learning for students by meeting with them before the start of the school year and continuing to work one-on-one with students during the year.

Newport Elementary has been recognized as a school that is "Beating the Odds" by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The recognition was earned for academic achievement despite barriers typically associated with communities with a high degree of poverty. Newport Elementary School has been recognized for both reading and math achievement.

Students at Newport Elementary School can take part in fine arts through participation in art, band, choir and orchestra. There are also a variety of clubs for students to join.

Community relationships and tradition are important Newport Elementary School, which has been serving students since 1888. The school welcomes community involvement and hosts several community events during the year. The school also has an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
