To help keep children warm this winter, South Washington County Schools (SoWashCo Schools) Community Education is partnering with SoWashCo CARES (Community Action Reaching Every Student) to help match students in need with new winter coats, snow pants, boots, hats and gloves.

SoWashCo Schools is sharing our criteria for COVID-19 decision-making that defines when increased health strategies will be put in place (including face coverings in our high schools) and when classrooms or schools would move to distance learning.

The Department of Teaching and Learning is looking for parents to represent their child’s school and school community. There are 2 seats available for the cities of Afton, Cottage Grove, Newport, St. Paul Park, Grey Cloud Island, and Woodbury.  This committee will meet from 4:00-5:30 on the following dates:

  • Nov. 22, 2021
  • Jan. 24, 2022
  • March 21, 2022
  • May 16, 2022

The Nov. 2 election will be critical in providing the stability needed to address other pressing issues. If the ballot questions are approved, we will continue planning for our next challenges - growth in our communities, overcrowded schools and uneven enrollment increases.
