About Us
Newport Elementary School (NES) is a community-based school serving the city of Newport and portions of Woodbury, Minnesota. We are proud of our smaller school as students and teachers know each other to create a "family" feel for the school. The students at NES are proud of their school and have made great strides in literacy achievement over the years.
NES focuses on integrity and student voice through its Student Council and Ambassadors program and prioritizes equity with multicultural training, Title 1 support and a strong intervention system for academic success. Monthly school meetings celebrate achievements and promote character development.
The staff at NES participates in multicultural awareness and culturally responsive teaching training. This allows the staff to teach and interact with students in multiple ways to further enhance relationships and cultural sensitivity.
NES also has a strong MTSS academic intervention system making sure that students in all grades who are behind academically are receiving extra support.
NES also has an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO).
